I use Google Workspace. Don’t they already back up my data?
This is a common misconception. While Google Workspace has incredibly robust systems to protect its own global infrastructure (including its own backups and data replication), this service is primarily for Google’s operational continuity, not for specific business data recovery for your individual organization. Google’s native protections won’t typically help your business recover from scenarios like:
- A security breach specific to your account.
- A ransomware attack encrypting your data.
- Malicious actions by an internal user compromising your data.
- Accidental deletion of users or data that goes unnoticed until after Google’s 30-day recovery window has passed.
