My first trip on Cathay Pacific was a pleasant one. Leaving Sydney at 10pm, the airport was very quiet and I had checked in online so had no queue to dump my bags. Being rather tall I wanted to see if I could get some exit row seats, however this isnt an option you are given online, so I asked at check in.

The staff all along the trip were Cathay Pacific’s own, no agency staff so the attention and commitment to making the hjourney as pleasant as possible was excellent. There was a lot of effort expended to organise my request, including checking my bags to Heathrow and securing exit row seats from Hong Kong as well. The seats were standard size, however they have a lumbar adjustment which is not something I have seen in economy before. My only complaint was the entertainment system was not on demand, even having a huge choice didnt really make up for this as I slept and kept waking up about 30 minutes in to the movie!

Food was excellent, and service impeccable. Hong Kong is always a pleasant stop over, plenty of room to stretch the legs and recliner chairs are available if you know where to look. I had an hours sleep here as nothing was open at 5.30am – not even Starbucks. Remember that Hong Kong has 2 wireless ISP’s offering free WiFi here, so find a powerpoint, even outside of the lounges, and you can work if you please at decent speeds too.
