Google has a lot of services you may need to use, but you don’t want a gmail.com account. You may want to sign in to YouTube to save your favourite cat videos, analyse your website traffic with Google Analytics, or get your business found with a listing in Google My Business.
One thing we see a lot is business users who are not on Google Workspace creating a gmail.com address and then sharing that between the team. This isn’t safe and ends up being a pain to manage. Even worse they share their business accounts with the personal gmail account of the team member.
Did you know you can create a Google Account with your existing email address?
You should have your team do this as well because you then get better control over who has access to what services in your business, and when they leave it’s much easier to deactivate those permissions because they are using your business email address.
This will show you how to upgrade your non-Google Workspace email address to a Google account without adding a gmail.com account to your password manager.
